Choosing a Plumber

Home/Choosing a Plumber

When it comes to choosing a plumber, you want to find someone you can build a relationship with, who is capable of doing all of your plumbing repairs, both inside and out. Your plumber should be able to find the source of a leak, fix leaky pipes, install new fixtures, replace your outside sewer lines, replace septic tanks, handle drain cleaning, perform well services like well pump repair, well pump replacement and more. If you have a well or hard water, they should also be able to install water treatment systems. And oh, don’t forget water heaters!

Some plumbers specialize in one or two areas, but here at Five Star Plumbing Services, our plumbers do it all! We offer a full range of plumbing services to homeowners and commercial clients in central Maryland, including Baltimore County, Harford Count, Cecil County, and Howard County. No job is too big or too small!

Before choosing a plumber, do a little investigating. Check out their websites to see what they offer, and ask your family, friends and neighbors if they have a plumber they like to work with. Here are several questions to ask:

  • Do they offer emergency/same day service?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • Do they offer flat rate pricing or do they charge by the hour?
  • Are they licensed, bonded and insured?
  • Do they guarantee their work?
  • Can they give references?

Hint: All of the answers to these questions should be yes, and the longer a company has been in business, the better. If they do shoddy work and have lousy customer service, they wouldn’t be in business for long. And beware of low-ball pricing. Why are their prices so low? Is it because it’s a sole proprietor who doesn’t have to charge for the overhead involved with a large fleet and office? Or is it because they’re actually just a handyman and not a licensed plumber?

We offer guaranteed same day service 7 days a week, with no overtime charges. We provide flat rate pricing, so you know what to expect even before our plumbers arrive. We also offer 2 hour appointment windows so you don’t have to wait around for us all day. The easiest way to make an appointment is to pick up the phone and call us at (410) 836-0118. We look forward to being the only plumber you’ll ever need!
